What is Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy?

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a physical therapy program used to correct any atypical patterns of the oral and facial muscles. It involves strengthening of the tongue and orofacial muscles by retraining the muscles to function as they should.

What are Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs)?

Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders are disorders of the oral and facial muscles that interfere with proper function and development. 

The Goals of Myofunctional Therapy:

1. Establish Exclusive Nasal Breathing 

2. Promote Proper Oral Resting Tongue Posture

3. Establish a Correct Swallowing Pattern

4. Lip Seal at Rest
