Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with adults or just children?
Both! I work with adults and children 4 and up. Adults often come for help with chronic mouth breathing, sleep issues, clenching or grinding, tongue-tie, TMJ pain, or oral habits affecting their dental health.
How do I know if my child needs myofunctional therapy?
Common signs include mouth breathing, open-mouth posture, snoring, restless sleep, picky eating, gagging, tongue thrust, speech difficulties, crowded teeth, or frequent cavities. If you’ve noticed any of these, you’re in the right place—these are things we can help with.
What happens during the first appointment?
The first visit is an assessment. We look at breathing patterns, tongue posture and function, swallowing, facial muscles, and habits that may be affecting sleep, oral health, or development. You’ll leave with a clear plan and simple first steps to get started.
How long does treatment take, and how many sessions will I need?
Every person is unique, so the length of treatment depends on your age, habits, and goals. Most programs last 6-12 months, with steady progress along the way. Sessions are typically scheduled every 2-3 weeks, and most adults need 12-14 sessions to complete their program. Consistency makes a big difference—just a few minutes a day can create huge changes.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes! Virtual sessions are available and are just as effective as in-person care. Many people love this option because it’s comfortable, convenient, and makes it easier to fit appointments into busy schedules.
Do you offer in person appointments?
Yes! I offer mobile, in-person visits in the comfort of your home for anyone within 25 km of Aurora, Ontario. Families love this option because it feels relaxed, familiar, and saves travel time. Appointments are also available at Footprints Therapy in Innisfil for those who prefer an office setting.
Will my benefits cover myofunctional therapy?
After your comprehensive assessment, we’ll provide a Dental Hygiene insurance claim form that you can submit to your benefits provider. Coverage varies by plan, but many clients are able to receive reimbursement for portions of their care.
What does treatment cost?
The initial assessment is $200 and follow up sessions are $155. A myofunctional therapy kit is required for all clients and costs $25. This kit provides the tools you’ll need to complete exercises at home and get the best results from your therapy.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking your initial assessment is easy! You can schedule a session by email, text, phone call, or directly through our online booking link. Once your assessment is booked, we’ll confirm the details and provide any forms you may need to complete beforehand.
